Camping Cast Iron Green Frittata

Camping but still want to stay healthy for breakfast? Try this awesome Camping Cast Iron Green Frittata! So good and will give you energy all day long! You will get your daily intake of veggies and amazing energy boosting vitamins. Then when dinner rolls around, you won’t feel so bad about eating hamburgers and hotdogs!!

A little preparation goes a long way, while traveling and dining on a budget. Planning out your meals for each day saves you the headache and keeps you on track to have a fabulous camping or traveling experience.

For this dynamite breakfast, you might consider doing some of the dirty work at home before you go. Cleaning and trimming the veggies, precooking the bacon, shredding the cheese and properly storing them.

A Cast Iron Dutch Oven is what you will need to make this delicious Camping Cast Iron Green Frittata. You can find a basic Dutch Oven here: https://www.amazon.com/Lodge-Quart-Dutch-Seasoned-Cooking/dp/B00006JSUF. Make sure it has a lid, because you will need it. You can use your Dutch oven many different ways, for so many different things.

If you are a little more pressed for time, you can prop your Dutch Oven up and over, with just a low flame from charcoals or on a camping stove. If you have some extra time to spend, you may also place your cast iron Dutch oven right on the charcoals, no flame, and place some coal bricks on top as well for a whole oven effect.

Add all the ingredients to the Dutch oven in layers. Grease the bottom of the Dutch oven with olive oil or non-stick cooking spray and add the veggies first. Then break the eggs over the top of the diced veggies and place the lid on tight. If you are using the charcoal method, don’t forget to add coals on top of the Dutch oven lid.

However you plan on cooking it, know it cannot be rushed without ruining it, one way or another. So relax, take in nature and the wonderful smells while you wait for your scrumptious breakfast to cook! It is finished when the eggs on top are fully cooked and the veggies are firm but tender!
